The High Voltage Fitness Story
At High Voltage Fitness, diversity and inclusion are not just ideals, they're the foundation of who we are and how we operate. We believe that fitness should be accessible to everyone, and we are committed to creating a space where people of all backgrounds, identities, body types, and abilities feel seen, supported, and empowered.
We welcome individuals of every race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, religion, socioeconomic background, body size, and ability level. We recognize the systemic barriers that have historically excluded many from the fitness industry, and we actively work to break those down both inside our gym and in the broader community.
We affirm and uplift LGBTQIA+ individuals, people with disabilities, and anyone who has ever felt like they didn’t belong in a traditional fitness space. Through intentional hiring, inclusive programming, coach education, and community engagement, we strive to ensure that every person who walks through our doors feels safe, valued, and respected.
Diversity makes us stronger. Inclusion makes us whole. Together, we are building a gym culture rooted in equity, empathy, and collective growth one rep, one class, one conversation at a time.

Time seems to run away with itself, and as I am approaching my 20-year reunion, I can’t help but reflect on one of the funniest things from my senior year. As a senior, my teachers whimsically predicted I would one day replace our PE teacher. That notion seemed as likely as flying cars at the time. Yet, life has a way of turning the tides when you least expect it. When I started working out at Crossfit High Voltage over ten years ago, a dormant passion for fitness and coaching was reignited. The thrill of coaching grabbed hold of me after a year of training, and it hasn’t let go since. Witnessing members smash barriers they once thought insurmountable has become the fuel that drives every session I lead.
My perspective changed dramatically in 2019 when I met my future wife and with that perspective on coaching changed when I was challenged to see a world outside of my able-bodied bubble. Her resilience in the face of a life-altering car accident brought a new perspective into my life. Fitness, something I viewed as routine, was a daily challenge for her, filled with physical trials and emotional tribulations. Her experiences opened my eyes to the stark lack of inclusivity in the fitness industry-a world that often sidelines those who don’t fit a certain mold.
The real transformation for Crossfit High Voltage began during the tumultuous year of 2020 when the challenges of inclusion, racism, and the lack of equality could no longer be ignored. The death of George Floyd was incredibly polarizing for the community, and people I had considered friends took stances I couldn’t tolerate. As the community fractured and changes came about, I was given the opportunity to take over High Voltage.
When my partner and I took over, we envisioned a sanctuary for fitness that celebrated every body type, ability, and spirit. Our mission was clear: create a fitness haven where nobody feels out of place because of a disability or their level of fitness experience.
At High Voltage Fitness, inclusion is the cornerstone of everything we do. We strive to ensure that every member feels respected, valued, and recognized for their efforts. Here, it’s not just about reaching fitness goals but celebrating the unique paths we each take to get there. Whether you’re overcoming personal challenges or trying out a treadmill for the first time, your journey is as important as any.
Join us at High Voltage Fitness, the #1 Crossfit gym in Burbank. Here, every effort is celebrated, every journey is honored, and every member is an integral part of our vibrant community. Let’s make fitness a joyous part of your story.
