Had an incredible weekend with a few of our coaches at the Burgener Weightlifting Course from @burgenerstrength lead by Beau Burgener hosted at @crossfitventura ! This course is a top-notch program for building a strong foundation in Olympic lifts. Beau guided us through intensive drills and techniques for mastering the #snatch, #cleanandjerk — emphasizing safety, efficiency, and effectiveness. It's amazing how challenging it can be to train with just a PVC pipe! We spent two full days perfecting the fundamentals, working through drills, mastering positions and of course lifting heavy weights! It was a fantastic chance for our coaches to sharpen their skills and bring enhanced training back to our community. We celebrate Memorial Day differently. 🏃‍♀️🏃🏃‍♂️ The #murph challenge a “Hero” WOD, consisting of a 1 mile run, 100 pull-ups 200 push ups, 300 squats followed up with another mile run. This “Hero” WOD is done every year on Memorial Day weekend to honor and recognize LT. Michael Murphy from Patchogue, NY who died serving in Afghanistan in 2005 in addition to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice, while serving in the armed forces. High Voltage Fitness will be hosting our very own Murph challenge on May 27. All are welcome and modifications will be available for participants so save the date. More details to come!

First and foremost I want to thank our amazing community here at #highvoltagefitness. Thanks to everyone who contributed to our #NewYearSameMe 2023 Kick Off Party our community raised $2,345.72. We couldn’t have done it without everyone who donated time, prizes and money to support victims of the Club Q shooting from last year. @raerae_martin and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Mass shootings are unforgivable and all to common and only a few days earlier there was yet another shooting during the Lunar New Year in Monterey Park. Originally we had planned to donate $1,000 from to the Club Q fund from High Voltage, but felt we couldn’t ignore this tragedy in our own backyard. So instead, we have made a $1,000.00 to the Lunar New Year Victims Fund to help aid in their recovery. There are so many people who made this possible. Without your help none of this would be possible so from the bottom of our hearts, Thank You ❤️❤️

BE LIKE IZZY! Sure, its nice to pack up, walk out of a class and be done with the workout when we’ve finished, but research shows that those who don’t take time to stretch post-workout will pay for it later, with sore and stiff muscles and more risk for injury. Immediate Muscle Repair The improved circulation of blood that occurs through stretching allows the muscles to relax and receive oxygen to repair straight away. As the heart rate lowers after exercise, you give your body time to actually receive blood flow, which begins the recovery process much faster than if you just stopped without stretching. Create More Flexibility Having a more flexible body not only allows you to get into some interesting yoga shapes(we offer yoga classes too btw), but also reduces muscle tension. After a few weeks of regular post-workout stretching, you’ll already notice a difference in your flexibility. Protect Your Joints Your joints are surrounded by connective tissue and have muscles attachments. When you practice moving through your range of motion around your joints (think knees, hips, and shoulders), then you’re reducing tension and stuck-ness around those areas. This reduces pressure on joints and allows them to move more freely. Reduce Risk of Cramping You eliminate lactic acid build up through stretching, you are also relaxing the muscles and letting energy, body fluids and blood to flow through without getting ‘stuck’ anywhere, which often causes cramping. Dehydration can also be a factor in post-workout cramping, so sip on some water while you stretch. Now you have every reason to stretch at the end of your workouts—so go ahead and get stretching. Your body will thank you!
